The Juniper Networks EX4300-24T is a member of the EX4300 virtual chassis switch series. A step up from the EX3300, this is a top-end, stack-able, network switch with advanced routing features. It is designed to run in a rack and can operate as an access or distribution layer device, but thrives when collapsing the two topologies together. Advanced functionality in the form of Virtual Chassis, OSPF, BGP and redundant trunk groups means the system is highly fault tolerant. It is a high quality 1U rack mount unit (delivered complete with mounting "ears") with 24 built-in RJ45 ports and 4 x 40Ge uplink ports (separate purchase QSFP+ optics required).

This great value switch has many of the features of high-end chassis systems, providing the following benefits:

  1. It is managed so you can build segmented networks for better performance and security.
  2. Create resilient systems using Virtual Chassis technology:
    • You can improve resilience by spanning connections to critical servers across multiple chassis members
    • You can grow network capacity without the need to separately manage each unit - thus saving cost
  3. The EX4300-24T supports advanced routing features such as OSPF - to provide resilience between distribution layer devices and the core

The technical stuff

The EX4300-24T has 24 Gigabit ethernet ports. These support multiple encapsulations including - L2, L3 VLAN's and (LACP) aggregated interfaces. It is high performance; supporting packet switching capacity at 448 Gbps, more than 4000 VLANS, multicast and other advanced network functions. It is also highly secure and supports access control lists (ACL), MAC and other security controls. Together with the dedicated management port, the system can be fully secured.

The EX4300-24T also provides advanced stateless firewall functions. You can specify QoS settings such as bandwidth control and traffic queuing and priority - this means VoIP and other specialised types of traffic can be easily accommodated.

The EX4300-24T supports sFlow & RPM (Real-time response time monitoring) that allows detailed performance monitoring of traffic to ensure that your network is operating at maximum efficiency and, should any occur, problems can quickly be isolated and resolved.
